Nearly 40 seafood companies are participating on Premier Clark’s jobs and trade mission to China; and many met-up with the delegation fresh-off from attending last week’s China Fisheries and Seafood Expo in Qingdao.
Today was the seafood’s sector to shine in the trade mission spotlight at a promotional event, organized by the Province. Attended by the Premier, Guangdong’s vice governor, and Chinese seafood buyers, the event was an opportunity to promote British Columbia as reliable source of high-quality fish and seafood products and introduce many of the companies to the South China market and potential customers.
The day’s focus on seafood was accentuated by the signing of an agreement between the Guangdong Administration of Ocean and Fisheries and B.C.’s Ministry of Agriculture to advance cooperation in agriculture and ocean and fisheries management – and help further opportunities for B.C.’s fish and seafood producers in the lucrative Chinese market.
After flying to Shanghai, the day wrapped-up with a series of education signings involving four B.C. colleges and universities and a BC Alumni Ambassador Reception.
